For some years we have been using the SAILSetc IOM boom section for Marblehead and 10 Rater headsail booms. Until recently these have always been straight but we have found we also need to make the booms ‘bent’ for the usual reasons. One reason is to allow the foot of a Marblehead sail to have the free area that can be added as a foot roach. The other reason is to allow the boom to be really close to the deck but to avoid the forward end hitting the deck edge where the deck is flat. The joiner is made to give 15 degrees of ‘bend’ and is designed to be bonded into the boom material using epoxy glue.
